large executive homes, plus a wealth of green space and an easy commute to central London and nearby Romford, Hornchurch is one of the last stops on the District line’s journey through the north-eastern reaches of the capital.
Sitting just south of the A12 London to Lowestoft road, Hornchurch is a few miles inside the M25. For Tube commuters Elm Park, Hornchurch and Upminster Bridge stations are all on the District line, although Hornchurch station is at least half a mile from the town centre.
Emerson Park has trains to Liverpool Street, changing at Romford, taking about 43 minutes, and to Fenchurch Street, changing at Upminster, taking about 38 minutes
The town has three claims to fame: the 500-seat Queen’s Theatre, opened in 1975 by the late Sir Peter Hall; Rom Skatepark, the country’s best-known, off Upper Rainham Road, and an ex-RAF airfield that’s now a country park but had a big role in both World Wars.
